Prof. Dr. Ortwin Renn

Ortwin Renn is Scientific Director at the Institute for Transformative Sustainability Research (Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies, IASS) in Potsdam and Professor of Environmental and Sociology of Technology at the University of Stuttgart. He also heads the DIALOGIK research institute. His main research fields are risk analysis (governance, perception and communication), theory and practice of citizen participation in public projects, transformation research as well as social and technical change towards sustainable development.

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Sarah M. Springman

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Sarah M. Springman has been a full professor of geotechnical engineering at ETH Zurich since 1997 and has also been the university’s rector since 2015, where she is in charge of the school’s teaching department. She studied engineering in Cambridge and then worked for an engineering firm for several years on various geotechnical projects in England, Australia and Fiji. She completed her PhD at Cambridge University in 1989. Her research interests include the interaction between soil and structures and the geotechnical aspects of natural hazards.
